Mount Athos: Nutrition and Longevity
The way of living and nutrition habits, apart from the daily life on Mount Athos, concern people worldwide.
The nutrition and longevity of the monks especially have attracted intense interest, not only in Greece but all over the world. We can find a few articles on the internet which deal with this exact subject, such us on www.greece-is.com, on www.cbsnews.com, on www.dailymail.co.uk which has a strong impact in Great Britain, but also on www.theguardian.com.
We often see articles devoted to the plantations and the pure ingredients the Mount Athos monks use in their food and how important their food is for their health. They include olive oil, which they produce, fish and plenty of vegetables, which they plant, food which offers them at least 10 more years of living, compared to any average Greek.
Apart from maintaining their normal weight and the fact that they live longer, they have the lowest rate in illness, cancer and heart diseases.
