USEFULL INFORMATION
- Mount Athos is accessible by boat only
- Women are not permitted
- Tours via cruise ship that provide views of the monasteries can be arranged
- For pilgrims with ambulatory handicaps, tours via cruise ship around the Athos peninsula can be organized
- Pertinent historical information regarding each monastery will be provided
- An ID Card or special passport issued by Mount Athos is required for entry
- Accommodations at the monasteries depends on room availability
- An expert guide will always be present for the entire duration of the tour visit
- Photographs of the outer monastery surroundings and courtyards are permitted however NO photographs within the churches are permitted
- Cell phones must be maintained in the “silent mode” at all times during your visit as well as during any meals with the monks
- Pilgrims of all faiths are welcome to Mount Athos
ATTIRE
- Long pants must be worn
- Prohibited clothing includes shorts, “sweats”, flip-flops and athletic tee shirts
- Should a specific pilgrim in a group prefer not to visit a selected site then alternative plans can be arranged
- Transportation to and from Mount Athos is via ferry or speed boat
- Transportation between monasteries is via minivan
